DIFFERENCE between early cricket and the current game
Some of the differences separating cricket then and cricket now are:
- Better equipment.
Back when cricket started they had hardly anything compared to the current day. While we have protection for every part of the body, with state of the art expensive equipment and excessive training and preparation, the first cricketers played as a part-time, non profitable leisure activity instead of a profoundly paid profession. They were supplied with cane wood pads, woollen gloves and a flimsy, weak bat.
- Venues and publicity
At the current time sportspersons including crickets are widely renowned and publicised as being a famous figure. Back in the early times of cricket the players weren't so famous since the venues and grounds could only hold a certain small capacity and since the viewing was limited they weren't so well known. Also the media has played a big part in the making sportsmen so well known due to different interviews, TV shows, documentaries, newspaper articles and also through the many other forms of the media.
- Television live broadcast
One major difference between the two times is that today cricket is broadcast live on the TV, when in its earlier form it used to be only relayed through the radio.
